Hilton Garden Inn, Luton

Butterfield Park, Luton, LU2 8DL

The first Hilton hotel in the UK to be constructed using modular technology, the building comprised an in-situ steel frame forming the ground floor front-of-house areas, first floor gymnasium and second floor Junior Suite bedrooms, with two modular wings forming the back-of-house areas and bedrooms over three-storeys.

The building design embraced a whole series of enhancements to suit the operator and local planning conditions including separate heating/chiller plant, 10 % renewable energy (provided by means of a biomass boiler) and a high performance floor structure.

The hotel has a range of meeting rooms, brasserie style dining within the Pavilion Restaurant and a fitness centre. It achieved a BREEAM rating of “Very good” and was shortlisted for the European Hotel Awards – in the sustainability category.
