Caledonian delivered this challenging project within a constrained site during regular school operations. The inclusion of a roof top play space, contained behind a timber screen, with open steel trusses and a combination of artificial turf and timber decking make this a very modern design.

The high peak of the front elevation and the glass balustrading detail were manufactured offsite thus minimising the site construction period and the disruption and safety implications of a working school. The building also features passive ventilation systems for classrooms meeting the requirements of BB101 without the need for the capital and running costs of mechanical ventilation.

The external cladding of Yorkshire stone and timber perfectly demonstrates that offsite construction does not mean compromise in architectural intent and external finishes.
