JOB TITLE:      ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR
 
REPORTING TO:          SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

ROLE and LOCATION:
Based at our Head Office in Carlton on Trent, near Newark with easy travel connections, you will also be regularly required to travel to site.

Acknowledging that as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, this is the first step in a surveying career, we will look to mentor and support with training, your progression in the industry including RICS qualification.

Providing support within the Commercial team to surveying staff enabling projects to be procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality. Ensuring that the financial reporting and contract administration is timely and accurate is a business essential.

  • Reviewing pre-contract documentation and familiarising yourself with Contract obligations and timetables
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:
  • Working with colleagues to review design development to ensure economic design solutions that meet Client expectations and budget.
  • Notifying variations where applicable for reimbursement and achieving Employer instructions.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety considerations are kept at the forefront throughout the commercial process.
  • Working with material procurement colleagues to ensure timely delivery to site / factory and complimentary package allocation to subcontractors.
  • Assist with the subcontract procurement process – preparation of procurement schedules, tender packages, tender reconciliations and subcontract documents.
  • Analysis of sub contract scope, tender quotations, and cost negotiation.
  • Assist with the preparation and agreement of all monthly project interim and final account, including factory and site visits as necessary.
  • Measurement from drawings (and on site where required) to prepare, negotiate and agree subcontractor and client variations
  • Comply with strict process and contractual requirements for instructions, change notices, and formal contractual notices as required.
  • Recognise potential contractual issues on site and make good records including photographs and written statements to protect the company’s interests.
  • Keeping accurate, relevant records including records of plant on/off hire, records of labour hours and numbers, records of any potential client contra charges, etc.
  • Assist in ensuring sub-contract accounts are managed within budget and sub-contracts/final accounts are signed and agreed in a timely manner.
  • Assist and help in collating commercial information for Cost Value Reconciliations on a monthly basis to deadlines.
  • Attendance at client’s monthly project progress meetings where required.
  • Analysis of project costs to feedback to the Estimators on a regular basis.
  • General administration – filing, scanning, photocopying etc.
