Based at our Head Office in Carlton on Trent, near Newark with easy travel connections.
Acknowledging that as a Commercial Technical Assistant you will be coordinating within the commercial department across a number of surveying teams, we will look to mentor and support with training, your progression in the role to establish a position of trust.
Providing support within the Commercial team to surveying staff enabling project costs to be registered on our IFS accounting system on arrival to ensure financial reporting and contract administration is timely and accurate. Further support to keep reporting up to date and manage the IFS system through various stages of update for payments and scheme progress reporting. This is a business essential.

  • Minimum of 2 years accounting or experience with a contractor.
  • Previous experience with IFS systems is a preference.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • IT literate with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • A basic understanding of construction technology and MMC.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Be able to prioritise workload and manage time well.
  • Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Is personable, friendly, approachable, motivated and flexible.
  • Have excellent presentation skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Able to deliver high quality performance against tight deadlines.
  • Ensure that the central commercial inbox is kept up to date addressing and resolving issues promptly and thoroughly ensuring that unresolvable issues are escalated to the Commercial managers in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing the Commercial inbox on a daily basis to capture subcontractor applications and register the application within 48 hours, including cost on the IFS system.
  • Inputting payments for subcontractors for authorising and approval.
  • Raising supporting approval forms for contract changes.  
  • Escalate issues to relevant departments.
  • Reporting, including the production of daily, weekly and monthly standard reports.
  • To work with the finance department – periodically/weekly, to resolve:
            - discrepancies with purchase order and subcontract invoice queries.
            - queries on input figures for future payments
  • Any other tasks deemed as required to support the commercial function.
  • To carry out general administration duties including– filing, scanning, photocopying etc. within the department as required.
  • Work as an effective team player by assisting the wider commercial team as and when required.
  • Perform all tasks and prepare all information in accordance with the company’s policies, processes and procedures.
